C
harlie was born in 1924 and came to the Clearwater Valley with his family ten years later. He had a passion for exploring and, whether as guide, hunter, hiker and, later, Park Superintendent, got to know the valley and its natural history as well as anyone.
Arguably the valley’s first historian, Charlie had a lively imagination, and was without doubt a raconteur par excellence. In his later years, he compiled his remembrances in a manuscript which, though still unpublished, is widely circulated locally: Glimpses into the Past.
Charlie passed on in 2000. Xxx years later, in xxx, his daughter Nancy Shook and other family members published one of his many stories as a booklet entitled, The Legend of K’Hok’Ohine – Misty Water.
